Consulting & modernization

We take on the systems other teams hesitate to touch. Architecture and code reviews that end in a written report, framework and language upgrades, performance investigations, and tests added to code that never had any, without stopping the business.

What we do

How we work

A legacy system is usually the thing paying the bills, so nothing is rewritten wholesale. We start with a review, separate the findings that cost money from the ones that are merely untidy, and then change the code in small deployable steps with tests written ahead of each one. The report is yours even if the work stops there.

Stack

PHP and Laravel upgrades assisted by static analysis, PHPUnit for the safety net that has to exist before anything moves, Xdebug for profiling, query analysis and indexing work on MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Questions we hear

How is a review scoped?

By what you need to decide. A review can cover the whole system at a level useful for planning, or go deep on one area such as performance or security. We agree on the questions first, then read the code, the schema, and the deployment.

Can you work without disturbing the running system?

Yes. Reviews are read-only. Modernization work happens in branches, is verified against a copy of production data, and is released in small steps that can be reversed. Anything risky is scheduled with your team rather than around them.

What does a due diligence report contain?

Architecture and dependency health, code quality with evidence, test and deployment maturity, security and licensing risks, how much knowledge sits with single people, and an estimate of what the open issues would cost to fix. Written so a non-engineer can act on it.
